Opening Night – Day One
Retfest, the three-day comedy festival held in Retford, kicked off on Friday, October 21st with a bang. The event, now in its fourth year, was held at various venues around Retford, including the Galaway Arms, The Black Boy, and The Hideaway. The night began at 7:30 pm at the Galaway Arms with a set from Billy McGuire, who also closed out the event on Sunday.
The first night of the festival featured a diverse lineup of comedians, including KD Hinken, Big D Archer, Ian Allerston, Griff, Rebecca Sambrooks, Oli Clarke, Nick Mason, Leanne East, and Hope Hitz. The Galaway Arms saw a packed crowd, with Billy McGuire’s set setting the tone for the rest of the night.
As the night progressed, the atmosphere at The Black Boy was electric with Ian Allerston and Griff’s sets garnering particularly strong reactions from the audience. The Hideaway was the final stop of the night, and the intimate setting provided the perfect backdrop for Oli Clarke, Nick Mason, Leanne East, and Hope Hitz to showcase their comedic talents.
Overall, the first night of Retfest was a huge success, with a fantastic lineup of comedians providing non-stop laughter and entertainment for the enthusiastic crowd. The event was well-organized and the venues provided the perfect setting for the comedians to shine. With two more nights of comedy to come, Retfest is shaping up to be an unforgettable weekend of laughter and entertainment.
